It will be your kid’s birthday in a little while! You, as a father or mother realizes that it is time for you to prepare a great birthday gathering. Many parents should know what to do for their kid’s birthday: Decide a date, sourcing for place, food preparation, guests list, etc. Those are pretty regular ‘to do’ that most will do.
Nevertheless, I think that one of the most vital part of a birthday is the gift. As you can see, that is what your kid would almost certainly ask for and it will be something that they may cherish. Hence, I advocate that you make more thoughts when you want to buy a birthday gift for your kid. You can get the gift on your own, or you can write down a request with a comment, ‘She likes XYZ” in the invites.

I have a neighbor where their seven years old child wanted to read full-length version of the “Golden Compass” novel that is over 300 pagesthick! Now, I have to mark out accurately: Educational toys are fine, but whatever thing that is too ’study’ like will not be suggested.
Other suggestions - There are gifts that are ok for both gender. Explore age groups. If the kids are above 9 years old, the gifts could have remote control plans, baseball set along with PSP. For younger kids between 6-8 years old, they can have simple jigsaw set and boardgames. For the very young ones, they can have soft toys and playmats.
There are several ideas for an ideal birthday gift, I would also advise bringing your kid to giant toy stores and observe what get them excited. As soon as you get the idea, you can surprise them with the gift! If you want to be on the safer side, you can ask your kid to look and select the gift that they want. By this means, the kid can also have the thrill of waiting for the gift that they want.
